Trusted Orthodontists in Auburn

Dr. Gregory Livanos graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Fairleigh Dickenson University in Teaneck, New Jersey. He then received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. School of Dental Hospital before completing a general practice residency at St. Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady, NY.

Dr. Livanos practiced general dentistry for six years in Saratoga Springs while maintaining a faculty appointment at St. Clare’s Hospital. He later received his Certificate in Orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. As a board-certified orthodontist, he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2005.

Dr. Lisa Giarrusso is affectionately known as a Triple Jumbo, a three-time graduate of Tufts University. She received her Bachelor of Science from Jackson College of Tufts in Medford. She then moved to the Boston Campus, completed her Doctorate of Dental Medicine, and finished her Certificate in Orthodontics two years later. After graduation, she joined the orthodontic faculty and has always remained affiliated with Tufts.

Dr. Giarrusso taught from 1992-2008 as an assistant clinical professor of orthodontics. She achieved board certification when she became a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 1999. She has extensive experience treating children and adults and numerous patients who require orthognathic surgery in combination with their orthodontics.

Auburn Braces

Traditional metal braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have at CMOA. They’re made of metal or ceramic brackets affixed to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics.

These brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the positions we want them to be in as long as you have regular adjustments with Dr. Livanos, Dr. Giarrusso, or Dr. Kotin.

Braces in Auburn can effectively correct even the most severe alignment issues. They can sometimes work faster than other treatments might, which reduces your overall time in treatment.

Braces don’t require some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making Auburn braces a cost-effective orthodontic option. That’s great news if you’re looking to straighten your smile within your budget.

Auburn Invisalign

Invisalign is incredibly popular with patients and orthodontists in Auburn and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, the Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.

Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. To keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you’ll need to switch your invisible trays out for the next one in the series every one to two weeks as directed by your CMOA orthodontist.

The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and add time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign is most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option. A consultation with Dr. Livanos, Dr. Giarrusso, or Dr. Kotin at Central Mass Orthodontics in Auburn will allow us to determine your eligibility for Invisalign.
